Partners IP-Gen and Audio Web Access Announce Partnership to Provide Multimedia Applications for VoIP

Richardson, Texas (2001) ipGen, Inc., a softswitch and multimedia applications provider for convergent networks, and Audio Web Access (AWA), a voice portal middleware provider of speech-enabled applications, today announce a partnership to integrate solutions using ipGen's Genovation-Multi-Services Platform (MSP) softswitch and AWA's VoIP applications to provide carriers with a next-generation network infrastructure and readily deployable enhanced services that will quickly add new revenue generating services and stimulate movement to convergent networks.

Integration of ipGen's Genovation-MSP and AWA's voice-activated multimedia applications provide carriers with a robust, flexible, telecom grade call control and mediation platform with a package of enhanced services, including voice portal applications, unified messaging and personal information management. A demonstration of product interoperability, and platform and application features are scheduled for debut at the Spring Voice on the Net (VON) 2001 Expo in Phoenix, Arizona on March 21-23.

"Carriers and service providers are looking for ways to grow revenues and increase subscriber retention. Both can be accomplished through providing competitively differentiated and revenue generating enhanced next-generation services that subscribers are looking for," said Ron Goldman, Vice President of Marketing for ipGen, Inc. "The integration of our Genovation-MSP with AWA's multimedia application package gives carriers a flexible, open architectured, telecom grade multi-services platform with instant revenue generating service capabilities."

The Genovation-MSP is an Internet Protocol (IP) based media gateway controller/softswitch /applications platform with an open applications programming interface (API) and support for industry standard APIs such as JAIN, PARLAY and JTAPI. It provides the core control and mediation functions for next-generation networks and networks in transition supporting multi-protocol such as MEGACO, MGCP, SIP and SIGTRAN. The platform surpasses the needs of the carriers and service providers for a flexible, reliable platform that inter-operates with a wide variety of networks and devices, and provides the ability to build scalable multimedia services quickly with a foundation of robustness.

AWA's middleware applications are categorized under three main service groups, a Personal Voice Portal(tm) (PVP), a Corporate Voice Portal(tm) (CVP) and a Customer Service Portal(tm) (CSP). Individual services include a voice portal, unified messaging and personal information management. Voice portal services deliver news, sports, weather, stocks and entertainment - coupled with proprietary voice-Web architecture, Voice Portal Link(tm), which helps members discover, navigate and benefit from other voice portals. Unified messaging services (UMS) allow for the convergence of all incoming email, voicemail, and fax functionalities into one universal in-box. Personal information management (PIM) services include an address book for contact information, a calendar for managing daily schedules and a voice dialer that allows users to dial a contact name or number by using their voice. Services are scaled for consumers, small to midsize enterprises and large communication service providers.

"Our partnership with ipGen allows us to package our speech applications as a complete, simplified solution to carriers and service providers seeking to take advantage of next-generation network capabilities," said George Deprez, Ph.D., co-founder and CTO for Audio Web Access. "Our innovative, voice-enabled applications allow our customers to increase their service offering with voice recognition applications and customizable features which increase their value to subscribers, and subsequently, bring added revenues from an existing market. We believe that AWA technologies will define the future of information access."
